A Village Only Holds Up If the Businesses in It Can Grow
Cara and Vix have spent more than a decade building businesses. Vix grew up playing “taking baby to work” in the classes her own mother taught, and she learned early that a mom’s business is how a family holds together. Then both of them became moms, and their daughters are now two. They saw how little business support the places moms lean on actually get.
We call it the M2M economy: mom to mom, the way B2B is business to business. It’s the dance studios, playschools, tutoring collectives and family concierge services that keep families running, mostly on referrals and thin margins.
Most of the village runs on word of mouth. That carries a business a long way, and then it stalls. The owner ends up doing marketing after bedtime, and the families who need them most never hear their name. Vix saw it the day she became a mom: the Village was burning and no one cared about fixing it.
A business that grows can pay its people well and serve more moms. It has room to give our little ones the most magic.
We're hyperfixated on fixing the growth engine that builds a stronger village.
